Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. (Aug. 6, 2011) Lieutenant Colonel Robert M. is the commander of the Force Protection Group of the Base Command Mazar-e Sharif. His soldiers, serving with the International Security Assistance Force’s Regional Command North, are responsible for protecting Camp Marmal and its airfield against intrusion attempts and attacks, as well the protection of aircraft during takeoff and landing. The group consists of about 380 soldiers from Germany, Croatia and Armenia as well as 160 Afghan civilian employees, mostly guards and interpreters. (RC North Public Affairs photo /Released)
